Class 10 student meets watery grave after Holi festivities in Odisha’s Sonepur

Sonepur: In a tragic incident, a Class 10 student met a watery grave while taking bath in the Mahanadi River after Holi festivities here today.

The deceased has been identified as Sumit Meher, a resident of Block Chhak in Sonepur town.

According to reports, the student along with his relatives had gone to a ghat (stepped bathing place) under Mahanadi Bridge in Sonepur town to take bath after Holi celebration.

Source said that the minor boy was swept away in the strong current of water during bath.

The family members brought him to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Subarnapur, where he was declared dead.
