Class 3 girl raped in Odisha; minor held

Keonjhar: A school girl studying in class 3 was allegedly raped by a minor boy at her home here in the district.

The accused, who is a minor, is identified to be a class 9 student.

The victim is undergoing treatment at Anandapur Sub-divisional Hospital in critical condition.

According to reports, the girl was staying with one of her relatives after her parents’ death. Her relative along with his family was staying at a rented house owned by the accused minor’s uncle at Sasang area under Hatadihi block.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon when the girl was watching TV at her home. The juvenile entered into the house on the pretext of watching television. As all the family members were sleeping in the afternoon, he took advantage of the situation and raped the minor girl. During the period, a little boy of the area came into the house and started screaming seeing the brutal act following which the family members woke up.

The locals managed to nab the culprit while trying to flee from the area. They fastened them to a tree and informed the police.

The victim was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

The police later arrested the juvenile. A complaint was filed by the minor girl’s relative at Nandipada police station.
