Class-VI girl found pregnant in Odisha school

Bhubaneswar: A Class-VI girl of a Sevashram (residential school) in Kotagarh area of Odisha’s Kandhamal district was reportedly found pregnant.

The girl was admitted to a Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kotagarh after she complained of some complications a few days ago, sources said.

The girl was found pregnant when her blood samples were tested in a laboratory as per the advice of the doctors, sources added.

“The girl fell ill several times in the last few days. The doctor advised her to go for a blood test. She was found pregnant in the test,” said a source.

However, the girl’s family is yet to lodge a complaint in this regard with police.

A teacher of the residential school reportedly absconded soon after the incident came to the fore, sources said.

Sources, meanwhile, claimed that some influential people in the locality are threatening the girl’s family not to lodge any complaint with police.
