Class-VIII boy drowns while taking bath in a pond in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: A Class-VIII student reportedly drowned while taking bath in a pond in the Odisha capital here today.

The deceased has been identified as Omm Prakash Pradhan, a student of Municipal Corporation High School at Baramunda.

The incident took place when Omm and three of his friends were taking bath in a pond, located close to Nilakantheswar temple at Baramunda.

The Class-VIII boy drowned after he slipped his feet and entered into deep water, sources said.

Omm and his friends reportedly skipped Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in their school and went to take bath in the pond, said a source.

Notably, two Class-X students met with watery grave while taking bath in a pond in Pokhariput area under Airfield police limits in the capital city on September 25.

They were identified as Rakesh Maharana and Subham Jena of the same locality.

The two boys along with five of their friends went to take bath in the pond. They drowned after entering into deep water, sources said.
