Class XI girl to represent Odisha at natl science forum with Aadhar-linked dustbin design

Bhubaneswar: The national meet of 105th Session of Indian Science Congress will see a unique model of a waste disposal system linked to Aadhaar number. The inventor of this innovative dustbin is Odisha’s Prisita Preetam, who has ingeniously fused the ideas behind Digital India and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A Class XI student of DAV Public School (Chandrasekharpur) in Bhubaneswar, she has incorporated sensors in her creation that are directly linked to biometrics submitted during Aadhar registration. During waste disposal from the dustbin, these sensors will send a command for verifying fingerprints of the individual casting out the garbage. Once the fingerprints are verified, reward points will be added to the person’s account via text messages.

It is an attempt by the young girl to motivate people to keep their locality clean by using dustbins.

Prisita is the only student from Odisha to have been selected for the national competition to be held at Osmania University in Hyderabad on January 6, 2018.
