Clerk arrested for sexually harassing teacher in Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: Police today arrested a clerk of Rayagada District Education Officer’s office for allegedly sexually harassing a woman teacher of a high school in Gudari area.

The accused has been identified as Satyanarayan Bisoyi. The woman had yesterday met district Collector Pramod Kumar Behera and apprised the official about her ordeal. She later lodged a police complaint, on the basis of which Bisoyi was arrested.

According to reports, the teacher was earlier suspended this year after a class-X student of the school failed to fill up form for the annual Matric examinations. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the teacher to revoke her suspension.

Bisoyi had also allegedly forced the teacher to have physical relation with him. She has further alleged that Bisoyi was harassing her over telephone.

On the other hand, the clerk refuted the allegations levelled against him saying that it was a conspiracy to malign his image.
