Clerk caught red-handed taking Rs 28,000 bribe in Odisha

Balangir: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested Asit Kumar Joshi, Senior Clerk-cum-Record Keeper, Muribahal Tehsil Office, Balangir district for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 28,000.

According to reports, Joshi had demanded the amount from Thabir Sahu of Limapada village under Muribahal police limits for issuing Record of Rights (ROR) in favour of the latter.

Sahu lodged a complaint in this connection with the anti-corruption agency, following which a trap was laid and the clerk was caught red-handed by the Vigilance sleuths while accepting the money from the complainant. The bribe money has been seized by the Vigilance.

A case has been registered against Joshi while further investigation was underway.
