Clerk in Odisha Vigilance net for taking bribe from teacher

Balangir: A clerk of Gudbhela BEO office in Odisha’s Balangir district was today arrested by Vigilance officials for allegedly taking bribe from a retired teacher for approval of revised pension.

According to reports, accused Damana Mishra had demanded Rs 5,000 from Hadu Bhoi, a retired teacher and resident of Salepali village under Gudbhela block in the district, for sanctioning of the latter’s revised pension.

Bhoi reported the matter to Vigilance, following which a trap was laid by the sleuths of the anti-corruption agency. The clerk was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officials while he was receiving the amount from the complainant.

The accused was later forwarded to court. Vigilance officials also raided his house at Patharateka village in Sonepur district.
