Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today flagged off 'Pari Pain Katha Tiye', a campaign by the state police against child sexual abuse which is scheduled to continue till June 12.
As a part of the campaign, as many as 15 chariots namely 'Pari Express' started rolling from different parts of the state. Each chariot is scheduled to cover two districts in 15 days and converge in Bhubaneswar on June 12 for a valedictory function.
The chariots shall be received at different locations by local police, district administrations and other social stakeholders with community participation to generate awareness for prevention and reporting of such heinous crime.
These chariots are equipped with LCD screens displaying audio-visuals for awareness. Street play by artists of District Council of Culture, community interaction in presence of local gentries and guests, distribution of printed materials like leaflets, pamphlets and posters are also part of the campaign.
Notably, the Odisha Police is undertaking the massive state-wide sensitization campaign on the issue of sexual abuse on girl child in collaboration with UNICEF.
The key objective of the campaign is to spread awareness among communities, families and parents that child sexual abuse can be prevented.
