Coast Guard boats to patrol sea during Nabakalebara

Puri, May 28:

Odisha Police DG Sanjeev Marik today announced the deployment of Coast Guard’s high speed boats in the Bay of Bengal for coastal security and CCTV Camera monitoring of important roads in Puri during the Nabakalebar of Lord Jagannath.

Marik was in Puri to review the security preparedness for the upcoming Nabakalebara festival, which is expected to draw over three million devotees.

“We discussed crowd management and other safety measures usually put in place on such occasions. We will have high-speed patrol boats of Coast Guard patrol the coast of the town and get CCTV camera installed at important roads and junctions to monitor activities on the streets,” said Marik speaking to reporters.

“Secondly, we reviewed the progress of developmental works underway at various places in the district. We are trying our best to get all these works done by June 15,” he added.

The review meeting was convened at Puri SP’s office and was attended by collector of Puri and senior officials of the police department. It deliberated on the issues such as the security of the city, coastal security, traffic management and parking issues etc.

The DG also took stock of the infrastructure development work such as the overbridge on the Bhubaneswar-Puri highway, Malatipatpur station, bus stand, Bira Harekrushnapur–Mangalaghat road and parking lots.
