Bhubaneswar: Several districts of coastal Odisha experienced rainfall this morning as the southwest monsoon is likely to become normal in the state from today, the Regional Meteorological Centre here said.

"Monsoon will attain normalcy. Rainfall activity to increase in Odisha from today," the Meteorological Centre tweeted.

As per reports, districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri and Ganjam received rainfall in the morning.

Notably, the southwest monsoon had remained subdued over the state.

"The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Ganganagar, Churu, Guna, Satna, Pendra Road, Sambalpur, Balasore and thence southeastwards to Central Bay of Bengal," the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its morning bulletin.

The cyclonic circulation over westcentral Bay of Bengal adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coast extending between 1.5 and 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height persists, the bulletin added.
