Cold wave back in Odisha, to intensify in next three days

After a week of cloudy weather accompanied by moderate rainfall in Odisha under the influence of a low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, most parts of the state experienced cold wave conditions today as the mercury came down sharply by 4-6 degree Celsius.

According to a Met office release this evening, Sundargarh recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 8.9 degree Celsius while the mercury came down to single digit in Phulbani and Keonjhar with 9 and 9.8 degrees respectively.

Temperatures remained between 10 and 13 degrees in Jharsuguda (10.1), Hirakud (10), Daringbadi (10), Sambalpur (11.5), Talcher (13.4), Bhawanipatna (13.2), Bolangir (12.1), Koraput (10.6), Titlagarh (13), Malkangiri (11.2) and Dhenkanal (12.8).

Temperature in Bhubaneswar, which was 20.1 degree yesterday, came down by as much as 6 degrees today to reach 14 degrees. Besides, most parts of the coastal districts also recorded appreciable fall in temperature.

The Met office has predicted that the cold wave condition in the state would intensify in the next 72 hours with rain or thundershower at one two places in north and coastal districts in the next 48 hours.
