Cold Wave in Odisha: Mercury dips below 10°C at 15 places

Bhubaneswar: Intense cold wave conditions continue to grip Odisha as 15 places in the state recorded minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius, today.

While the lowest temperature was registered in Sonepur (3.4), Angul shivered at 4.6°C. Other places where mercury dipped below 10°C mark were Balasore (8.6), Cuttack (8.8), Baripada (9), Jharsuguda (7.3), Keonjhar (6.6), Sambalpur (7.4), Sundargarh (9), Bhawanipatna (6.5), Balangir (8), Koraput (9.6), Phulbani (5), Titlagarh (6.1) and Daringbadi (5.5).

Mild frost was witnessed in various area of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Bargarh and Kandhamal districts. Odisha government has put district collectors on alert over the cold wave conditions and asked them to ensure that people are protected from the biting cold.

Minimum temperature is very likely to remain below normal by 4-6 degree Celsius during next 2-3 days and gradually rise by 2-4 degree Celsius thereafter, the Regional Meteorological Centre said.
