Cold wave intensifies across Odisha; G Udayagiri coldest place @7.2 degree C

Bhubaneswar: Cold wave tightened its grip across Odisha as the mercury dropped below 15 degree Celsius in 20 places yesterday night.

G Udayagiri in Kandamal district recorded the minimum temperature 7.2 degree Celsius, becoming the coldest place in the state followed by Similiguda (Koraput district) in the past 24 hours.

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre of the IMD, the night temperature fell to 10.5 degree C in Phulbani, 11 degree C in Koraput, Daringibadi and Bhawanipatna, 11.5 degree C in Kirei (Sundargarh), 12 degree C in Chipilima (Sambalpur) and Jharsuguda, 13 degree C in Keonjhar and Deogarh, 13.3 degree C in Hirakud (Sambalpur), 13.5 degree C in Boudh and Ranital (Bhadrak), 14 degree C in Sundargarh and Angul, 14.5 degree C in Mahisapat (Dhenkanal) and Nayagarh, 14.6 degree C in Sonepur and 14.9 degree C in Sambalpur.

The minimum temperature in Odisha’s Twin City Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was recorded 16 degree C and 16.4 degree C respectively yesterday night.

According to IMD, the night temperature fell at several places due to the north-westerly winds continuously entering into Odisha. Such condition is likely to continue during next 3 to 4 days.
