Cold wave to intensify in Odisha in two days

With the mercury dipping in most parts of Odisha after two days, the Met department has warned of intense cold wave condition in the state in the next two days.

A release by the Met office here this evening said the temperature slumped to single digit in four south and west Odisha districts with Phulbani recording the lowest at 7.8  degree Celsius followed by Sundargarh (7.9), Bolangir (9.2) and Koraput (9.8).

Besides, temperature hovered round 10 degree and above in Malkangiri (10.4), Daringbadi (10.5) and Hirakud (10.7).

In coastal districts, the average night temperature came down by nearly 1 degree.

The capital city recorded 14.6 degree.

According to Dr Surendranath Pasupalak, agro-meteorologist, Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT), temperature in Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Baleswar districts will fall by .5 degree from tomorrow till December 5 after which most parts of the state would experience intense cold wave conditions as the cold wind from the northern Himalayan range would blow over the state.
