Cold weather may return to Odisha after Diwali

Bhubaneswar: The mercury that slightly increased in the past 3 days in Odisha may drop after Diwali.

“The minimum temperature had risen in the State due to wind from the Bay of Bengal in past 2-3 days. However, the wind-wave from the east has started weakening following which the mercury is likely to fall after Diwali and the cold weather may return,” said weather scientist of Bhubaneswar MeT Uma Shankar Das.

The minimum temperature may drop by 3-4 degree Celsius in interior districts and by 2-3 degree Celsius in coastal districts of Odisha in next 2-3 days, he added.

Three places in the plains of Odisha have recorded minimum temperature of 15.0 degree C or below in the past 24 hours. While the lowest minimum temperature of 13.4 degree C was recorded in Sonepur followed by Phulbani and Angul with 14.0 degree C, Malkangiri registered the highest maximum temperature of 34.5 degree C.

The Twin City Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded the minimum temperature of 19.5 degree C and 22.0 degree C respectively in the last 24 hours.
