Collectors in Odisha asked to be prepared as IMD predicts heavy rain

Bhubaneswar: As the weathermen predicted heavy rain in some parts of Odisha from today, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) asked the district administrations of 14 districts to be prepared to meet any eventuality.

Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena in a letter to Collectors of the 14 districts directed them to monitor the situation closely. The district administrations should remain in readiness to meet any eventuality. He also asked them to ensure advice for fishermen are strictly implemented.

He wrote to the Collectors of Angul, Balasore, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Boudh, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts.

As per the weather forecast from 1:30 PM of June 17, 2021 till 8:30 AM of June 18, 2021:

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar & Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Dhenkanal

Valid from 8:30 AM of June 18, 2021 up to 8:30 AM of June 19, 2021 :

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur & Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Angul, Keonjhar & Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Boudh

Valid from 8:30 AM of June 19, 2021 up to 8:30 AM of June 20, 2021:

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar

Fishermen warning: Due to steep pressure gradient and strong monsoon flow, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal till June 18, 2021 fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea areas of north Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal till June 18, 202l.
