College boy drowns during idol immersion in Jajpur   

Jajpur: In an unfortunate incident, a youth drowned during immersion of an idol of Goddess Durga in a river at Pahanga village under Rasulpur block in Jajpur district last evening.

The deceased identified as Debasish Jena, a resident of Bhandaripokhari area in Bhadrak district, was studying in Vyasanagar Autonomous College staying at his maternal uncle’s house.

Reportedly, Debasish slipped into deep water of the river during the idol immersion and later drowned. On receiving information, a firefighting team rushed to spot and launched a rescue operation.

After over two hours of search operation, the youth was fished out of the water body and rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
