College boy, motorcycle owner fined Rs 42,500 for traffic violations in Odisha

Bhadrak: A college boy and a motorcycle owner have been slapped with a fine amount of Rs 42,500 for violating traffic rules under new Motor Vehicles Act in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.

This is said to be the highest amount of fine imposed by the RTO on a juvenile in the district for floating traffic rules.

According to reports, the minor boy along with two persons was riding a motorcycle on Thursday. Bhadrak Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials stopped the motorcyclist and issued a challan against the juvenile as well as the vehicle owner identified as Narayan Behera, a resident of Nuapokhari area under Bhandaripokhari police limits.

While a fine amount of Rs 5,000 was slapped on the vehicle owner for allowing the minor boy to drive the two wheeler, the rider was fined Rs 5,000 for driving without driving licence (DL), Rs 5,000 for driving against flow of traffic, Rs 1000 for riding more than two persons on a motorcycle, Rs 1000 for riding without helmets by driver and pillions and Rs 25,000 for offences by juveniles.
