Sundargarh: In a tragic incident, a college girl was charred to death at Bhaludunguri village under Bonai police limits in Odisha's Sundargarh district, last night.

The deceased has been identified as Swapneshwari Munda. She was a +3 student of a degree college at Lahunipada.

According to reports, the dress of the girl caught fire inside her house while she was holding a kerosene lamp.

The victim's family members rescued the girl and rushed her to the Bonai Sub-Divisional Hospital, where doctor declared her dead.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after the death of Swapneshwari.

Police have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. An investigation into the incident was underway.
