Bhanjanagar: Head of History department of Tentulia Sasan Debasthan College in Odisha's Ganjam district, Prabhakar Mohapatra allegedly committed suicide, today.

The deceased, who was residing at a rented house with his wife and daughter at Ura village, hanged himself near a well at the backyard of the house early this morning. His family members rushed him to the Bhanjanagar sub-divisional hospital, where he was declared dead.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem and started investigation into the incident to ascertain the reason for which the teacher ended his life.

A pall of gloom descended on the area as many teachers and students reached the hospital and expressed grief with teary eyes.
