Comedian Micheal Che pays rent for 160 apartments in NYC in honor of grandmother

New York: “Saturday Night Live” comedian Micheal Che paid one month’s rent for at least 160 apartments in New York city following the death of his grandmother who died from deadly virus Covid-19.

The 36-year-old comedian had shared an open letter on Instagram on April 6 revealing that he lost his grandmother due to complications from Covid-19 and later on he announced on social media that in her honor he will pay one month’s rent for everyone in the New-York City Housing Authority Apartment where his grandmother had lived.

“Its crazy to me that residents of public housing are still expected to pay their rents when so many New Yorkers can’t even work. Obviously, I cant offer much help myself, but in the spirit and memory of my late grandmother, I’m paying one month’s rent for all the 160 apartments in the NYCHA building she lived in. I know that’s just a drop in the bucket. So I really hope the city has a better plan for debt forgiveness for all the people in public housing, at the very least”.
