Police have detained ten persons in connection with incidents of fresh violence in Odisha’s district headquarters town Bhadrak, reports said.

Meanwhile, Home Secretary Asit Tripathy and DGP K B Singh have arrived in the communal strife-torn town to take stock of the situation.

The duo held a meeting with senior officials of the police and district administration at the Bhadrak Town police station.

The duo along with senior officials of the district is visiting various strife-torn spots in the town and is taking stock of the situation.

In a related development, BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Krishan Pal Gurjar who was to visit Bhandaripokhari in Bhadrak district tomorrow to address a public meeting has cancelled his visit following a request by the police since the district is in the grip of communal turmoil.

However, Gurjar will be holding a public meeting at Badamba in Cuttack district tomorrow.
