Condolences pour in for Ollywood veteran Bijay Mohanty

Bhubaneswar: Condolences poured in from different quarters as soon as the news of passing away of renowned Actor and Director Bijay Mohanty broke out.

Expressing deep grief Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik described late Bijay Mohanty as a legendary personality who has enriched Odia film industry through his versatile talents.

“He had a long, illustrious career in Odia film. He occupies a very special place in the hearts of millions and millions of fans across the state and outside. His death marks the end of an era in Odia film industry and has created a deep void in the industry. His contribution to Odia films will leave an unforgettable imprint for all the times to come,” Patnaik said. He also conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

The Chief Minister further announced the body of veteran actor Bijay Mohanty will be cremated with state honours.

Commerce and Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera and State Planning Board Vice Chairman Sanjay Das Burma condoled the death of the veteran Actor and Director.

In his condolence message, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan said, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of Bijay Mohanty. With his death, there is an end of an era in Odisha film industry.”

Union Minister of State for MSME Pratap Chandra Sarangi said the death of Bijay Mohanty is an irreparable loss to the Odia cine industry. The veteran Actor and Director created a special space in the hearts of people.

Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi said, “Deeply saddened by the news of untimely demise of Bijay Mohanty, the veteran actor of Odisha film industry. He has left an indelible imprint on the minds of his admirers because of his acting skills. His departure is a loss to Odisha. My prayers for the departed soul.”

OPCC Chief Niranjan Patnaik expressed grief over the death of Bijay Mohanty. “His death is an irreparable loss to the people of Odisha and Odia film industry. He was not only a renowned personality, but an organization to create quality artistes,” Patnaik said.

Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said, ”Deeply sorry at the untimely passing away of Bijay Mohanty. A true colossus of Odia film & theatre. He was the tallest! As Director Culture more than two decades ago I had pleasant association with him as a member of faculty of Sangeet Natak academy. He will be remembered!”
