Cong gheraos CBI office in Bhubaneswar against Alok Verma’s removal

Bhubaneswar: The State unit of Congress today staged a demonstration in front of CBI office here against the removal of CBI Director Alok Verma.

The agitators demanded the reinstatement of CBI director Alok Verma protesting Centre’s interference in the country’s premier investigating agency.

Speaking over the issue, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Niranjan Patnaik said that the Centre sent Verma on leave to suppress the alleged corruption in Rafale deal.

Holding the posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the protestors shouted slogans against the Centre.

The nation-wide protest was launched by the Congress against Prime Minister’s alleged disgraceful attempt to prevent probe into the Rafale scam by removing the CBI chief.

AICC president Rahul Gandhi led the nation-wide protest outside the CBI headquarters in CGO complex in New Delhi to mount pressure on the Centre for reinstatement of Verma, who has been sent on leave.
