Congregations at water bodies in Bhubaneswar prohibited till Jan 16

Bhubaneswar: Gatherings at water bodies in Bhubaneswar to take dip on occasion of Makar Sankranti and Pongal have been banned till January 16, 2022.

In an order, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated congregations at river banks, ghats, ponds and other water bodies to take bath on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and Pongal in the city are prohibited up to January 16, 2022.

It also banned organisation of Makar Mela and Meena bazaar.

Besides, religious places and places of worship will not allow public till January 16 inside their premises for offering puja and darshan on account of Makar Sankranti, Makar Mela and Pongal.

However, usual rituals at the religious institutions will continue with minimum number of priests and servitors who are fully vaccinated.

The city municipal corporation prohibited religious congregations and celebrations on account of Makar Sankranti and Pongal till January 16.

As many as 1,055 Covid positive cases were detected in Bhubaneswar city in last 24 hours till 9 AM today.
