Bhubaneswar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) today announced the candidate for Nilagiri Assembly seat and changed candidates for 5 Assembly seats for the ensuing elections to the Odisha Legislative Assembly.
The party fielded Akshaya Acharya as its candidate for Nilagiri Assembly segment.
However, the party changed the Assembly candidates for Jaleswar, Bari, Athamallik, Athagarh and Puri.
A day after joining the Congress, former BJD leader Debasis Nayak was named as the candidate for Bari Assembly seat replacing Arati Deo. Recently, he had joined the BJP quitting the BJD. After he was denied a ticket by the BJP, he also deserted the saffron party two days ago and announced to fight elections from Bari as an independent candidate.
Besides, the party projected Sudarsan Das as its candidate for Jaleswar Assembly seat in place of Debi Prasanna Chand, replaced Bijayananda Chaulia with Himanshu Chaulia for Athamallik, Maheboob Ahemad Khan with Sudarshan Sahoo for Athagarh and Sujit Mahapatra with Uma Ballav Rath for Puri Assembly Constituency.
