Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim votes for Murmu against his party’s choice

Bhubaneswar: Barabati Cuttack MLA Mohammed Moquim voted today for NDA Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu, despite Odisha Congress unit’s decision to vote in support of Yashwant Sinha.

The party legislator Moquim said this to mediapersons after coming out of the polling booth.

“I voted for Draupadi Murmu, who belongs to my own State (Matira Jhiaku Vote Deli),” he stated.

“Giving respect to the sentiments of people of Odisha, I voted for Murmu,” Moquim reiterated.

On the other hand, senior MLA and Congress legislature party leader Narasingha Mishra said,” Moquim voting against the party’s decision has been reported to our high command. I duly informed after he made a statement in the media in this regard.”

It is pertinent to mention, the polling to elect a new President began on Monday in the Parliament and respective state Legislative Assemblies.

Draupadi Murmu is NDA’s candidate and Yashwant Sinha was supported by the Opposition parties.
