Bhubaneswar: Mangu Khilla, Congress' newly elected Chitrakonda MLA, was hospitalized after suspectedly being bitten by a venomous snake on Wednesday.
The incident took place at his residence in Kadamguda. He was rescued and admitted to the Kudumulguma Hospital in Malkangiri district for treatment. His condition was stated to be stable.
However, the doctor who treated him clarified that he was bitten by a scorpion, not snake. In test, poison was not found in his blood, the doctor said.
Notably, Khilla has successfully contested the Assembly Elections from Chitrakonda seat on Congress ticket by defeating his nearest rival BJP's Dambaru Sisa with a margin of 9159 votes.
Khilla got 55550 votes while 46391 votes were polled in favour of Sisa.
