Balasore: The Congress will uproot the BJD-BJP partnership government in Odisha as the party did in Telangana, said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his election campaign in Balasore.

Addressing a public meeting in Balasore that is going to the polls on June 1, Gandhi said, "The present BJD government is working for the BJP. They are one. We will throw them away here like we did in Telangana where the BRS was working for the BJP under pressure."

Lambasting the BJP, he said, "This is the first election that wants to abolish the Constitution and save it as well. While INDIA Alliance wants to save the Constitution of India at any cost, the BJP and RSS want to destroy Ambedkar's Constitution. I want to tell them that no power can destroy the Indian Constitution. You (BJP) can use all forces, but can't touch the Constitution."

The Congress' star campaigner narrated the atrocity made on him by the BJP for fighting against the government. However, nothing happened to the BJD government in Odisha if it claimed the BJP as its opposition.

"I have been fighting against the BJP since long. The BJP lodged 24 cases including defamation, criminal case against me. I was awarded 2-year jail term. The government took away my membership in parliament. They used the ED that investigated and interrogated me for 50 hours. I lost my residence. But these things did not impact me as I have my residence in hearts of people. If Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik is really fighting against the BJP, why he did not face all these above? Why were cases not filed against him? Why the residence allotted to him was not cancelled. Why was his membership not cancelled? Why did not he face ED interrogation? This clearly proves that Naveen Patnaik is working for the BJP here. They are working in partnership with a purpose to steal Odisha's resources, mining and properties and to make a handful of people billionaires. Not Naveen Babu, rather Pandian is running the state here," he alleged.

Rahul described the Congress' plans -- Mahalakshmi Yojana, scheme for farmers to provide guaranteed MSP for crops, Farmers’ loan waiver -- that are mentioned in the party's poll manifesto, as revolutionary work to be executed if the INDIA Alliance comes to power on June 4.

He said that the INDIA Alliance government will throw the 'controversial' Agniveer scheme in the dustbin.

"We don't need two types of martyrs. Each jawan should get pension, canteen facility, proper training, and martyr status in defence service," he asserted.

He promised that the INDIA Alliance will offer jobs to youth of Odisha as it is committed to fill up 30 lakh government posts in the country. He urged people to vote for Congress candidates under Balasore Parliamentary Constituency in the upcoming elections in Odisha.
