Constable aspirant dies day after falling unconscious during physical test in Odisha’s Rayagada

Bhubaneswar: A 25-year-old youth, who fell unconscious while appearing for the physical test of constable recruitment drive in Odisha’s Rayagada district yesterday, died at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur today.

The deceased has been identified as Harishchandra Koshalia of Jagadalpur village under Ambadala police limit in Rayagada district.

According to sources, Koshalia fell unconscious while appearing the running test for Odisha police constable recruitment drive at Rayagada reserve police ground yesterday.

Koshalia was rushed to Rayagada district headquarters hospital immediately. Later, he was shifted to MKGG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as his condition deteriorated. He died while being treated at the health institute today, sources said.

“We have registered a case of unnatural death and seized the body. The postmortem will be conducted tomorrow,” said a police official in Berhampur.

Notably, a 20-year-old youth died while appearing for the physical test of constable recruitment drive at Chhatrapur police reserve ground in Ganjam district yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Deepti Ranjan Dash of Shyamasundarpur in Ganjam district.

Dash fell unconscious while running a 1,600-metre race as part of the constable recruitment drive yesterday. He was rushed to MKCG medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
