Constable of Commissionerate Police caught taking bribe, suspended

Bhubaneswar: A Constable of Commissionerate Police (CP) was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 8,000 today. However, the CP suspended accused Suresh Chandra Das.

Suresh, attached to Account Section of the Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar, was caught red-handed by Vigilance officials Bhubaneswar Division while he was accepting the bribe from Ratnakar Pedenti, a resident of Emaliguda in Rayagada district.

As per complainant Ratnakar, who currently works as OAPF at Balipatna police station, the Constable had demanded bribe from him to process recovery of house rent without interest in his favour.

Officials of the anti-corruption wing laid a trap and caught the Constable red-handed besides seizing the bribe money.

A cases was later registered at Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station under Section 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection.
