Better late than never, the Odisha government after the death of 19 children due to malnutrition in Nagada-a Juanga settlement atop a hill in Sukinda block of Jajpur district today initiated work on the construction of a road that will connect it with Ashokjhar.

Construction of road to Nagada begins

Local MLA Priti Ranjan Ghadai today laid the stone for construction of an 11-kilometre road that would connect Ashokjhar with Nagada. The settlement was hitherto inaccessible with no road connectivity.

Reports said the state government has sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for the first phase construction of the road which began today.

This apart, Jajpur SP Anup Sahu today visited Nagada and set up four Very High Frequency (VHF) radio communication sets. The district administration too provided Nagada residents with essential commodities like rice, dal, drinking water pouches; mosquito nets and cots.

Also, a review meeting on how Nagada can be developed was held at the TISCO guest house in Kaliapani today. The meeting chaired by RDC (Central) A B Ota was attended among others by Jajpur District Collector, S P, SDM and several other senior officials of the district.
