Containment zone declared in 3 Odisha villages

Nuapada: Three villages under Kurumpuri Gram Panchayat (GP) in Nuapada district have been declared as the containment zone.

Following detection of fresh COVID-19 cases at an old age home in the Gram Panchayat, the Sarpanch declared Kurumpuri, Sinapali and Ghatipada villages as the containment zone with effect from 6.00 PM of July 24 till 6.00 PM of July 31 to contain spread of infections.

The local markets and weekly market of the GP will remain closed completely from July 29 till July 31.

Besides, all shops in the GP will remain shut during next 7 days.

The Sarpanch appealed to all the villagers to stay indoor and follow COVID-19 protocols.

The persons returning from other States have been asked to quarantine themselves for seven days to prevent spread of infection among others.

Source said that the containment zone was declared after 16 inmates of Holy Home (an old age home) located in Kurumpuri area under Komna Block were found positive for COVID-19.

Yesterday, total 944 persons had undergone antigen test, of which results of 17 came out positive. Of them, 16 infectees were from the old age home and 1 person was from Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital.

Following detection of fresh cases, a team of doctors visited the old age home to monitor the COVID situation, informed Nuapada Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dr. Kali Prasad Behera.
