Contractor found dead in Odisha capital; family alleges murder

Bhubaneswar: Family members of a 30-year-old contractor today alleged that he was killed by some miscreants near Patia railway station here yesterday night.

Deceased Rajkishore Panda’s elder brother Nabakishore lodged a police complaint in this regard.

In his complaint, Nabakishore claimed that Rajkishore, a private contractor and a LIC agent, had gone to Cuttack on a work yesterday night.

“I had talked to my brother over phone around 10 pm yesterday and he told me that he would reach home in 10-15 minutes. But, my brother did not return home and his phone was found switched off at around 1 am in the night,” Nabakishore said in his complaint.

The police today informed Rajkishore’s family that he had died by suicide yesterday night. “The police told us to collect the body from Capital Hospital. We suspect this to be a case of murder. The police are yet to trace Rajkishore’s mobile phone,” said the complainant.

“Our home is located in Laxmisagar area. We could not understand as to why my brother had gone to Patia station while returning from Cuttack,” he added.

Nabakishore urged the police to launch a probe and take action against the killers.
