Contractor shot dead by Maoists in Odisha

Phulbani: The terror gripped Tilarpanga village under Phiringia police limits in tribal district Khandamal by the Maoists with killing of a contractor on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Kailash Digal (40). He was shot dead allegedly by the Maoists after being called from home late on Saturday night.

Police suspected the red rebels behind the murder as the Maoist posters were recovered from the spot.

According to reports, Digal was gunned down and his hands were tied up before killing.

The exact reason behind assassination is yet to be ascertained.

This is the second Maoist menace in Kandhamal district during the elections 2019.

Recently, a woman polling official had succumbed to bullet injuries in the district this month. She was gunned down by the Maoists a day before second phase polls i.e. April 17 under Gochhapada police limits.
