Nayagarh: The Vigilance arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector of Police for accepting Rs 2,000 bribe to release a seized vehicle in Odisha’s Nayagarh district today.
ASI of Banigochha Police Station in Nayagarh, Lalit Kumar Behera was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division while demanding and accepting Rs 2,000 bribe from one Susanta Muduli of Kulakumpa village to release his seized tractor in connection with a case against Muduli.
Based on a complaint lodged by Muduli, the sleuths laid a trap and caught Behera red-handed while taking the bribe from the complainant. Also, the bribe money was recovered from the possession of the ASI.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar vigilance PS Case No 02 Dt.12.01.21U/S 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 was registered. Investigation into the case is on.
