Cops beaten up in Odisha while rescuing sterile woman

Umerkote police station IIC and several women police personnel were assaulted today in Nabarangpur district of Odisha while rescuing a woman, who was locked in a room for her inability to procreate.

According to reports, villagers of Bakadabeda under Umerkote police limits in the district had locked a woman in a room as she failed to bear child.

Being informed about the incident, Umerkote police station IIC along with a team of women police personnel rushed to the village and rescued the woman.

However, on their way back to police station over 60 villagers launched murderous attack on the police team.

The police vehicle was damaged and several police personnel with the IIC were injured in the attack.

Police have registered a complaint in this regard and action will be taken on the attackers, said Umerkote police station IIC.
