Khordha: An exchange of fire took place between Crime Branch's STF team and mining mafia in Odisha's Khordha town last night.

According to reports, acting on a tip-off about presence of Sandeep Pradhan, who is accused of illegal mining activities, with his associates at a playground near TLC Road here, the STF team reached the spot.

Realising the arrival of the cops, the accused opened fire at police in a bid to escape. The STF retaliated during which one of the accused sustained bullet injuries. However, others managed to give police the slip.

The injured one has been admitted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar. Cops have seized a car from the spot and efforts were on to apprehend others.
