Coronavirus scare: Odisha’s Veer Surendra Sai Airport sets up screening facility

Jharsuguda: Amid the novel Coronavirus scare across the country, the Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda has made a special arrangement to screen air passengers arriving at the airport.

Veer Surendra Sai Airport Director Sudesh Kumar Chauhan today said as per the decision taken in a meeting chaired by Principal Secretary in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, a cabin has been designated in the arrival hall of the airport to function as ‘Screening Centre’. The District Hospital authorities will manage the screening centre, he added.

This apart, Spicejet and Alliance Air, which are operating flights to the Jharsuguda airport, have been asked to follow laid down civil aviation guidelines in this case, the airport director said.

Earlier in the day, Dr. JC Barik, CDMO of Jharsuguda District visited the airport to examine the screening facility which will start functioning from tomorrow.
