‘Corrupt’ Fire official caught taking bribe in Odisha

Bargarh: A corrupt official in Fire Services department was caught red handed by the Vigilance while taking bribe here in the district of Odisha today.

Prasanta Kumar Mohapatra posted as the Assistant Fire Officer in Bargarh district fell into a trap laid by the Vigilance Sambalpur Division following complaint by a petrol pump owner identified as Hrushikesh Pradhan.

The Vigilance sleuths caught Mohapatra red handed while he was demanding and receiving an illegal gratification of Rs 12,000 cash from Pradhan for issuing fire safety certificate to the petrol pump located at Kadalipally under Bheden police limits in the district.

The officials of anti-corruption wing recovered entire tainted money from the accused and carried out search at the government quarter allotted to the fire official in Bargarh.
