‘Corrupt’ Tahasildar among 8 Odisha Govt officials given compulsory retirement

Bhubaneswar: Taking action to check corruption and inefficiency across the departments, Odisha Government today ordered compulsory retirement of 8 officials including former Nimapada Tahasildar, who was recently arrested on DA charge.

Former Nimapada Tahasildar and in-charge Sub-Registrar Rama Chandra Jena was earlier suspended from service after he was found in possession of over Rs 5 lakh and five PAN cards during Vigilance raid on November 2.

The State Government gave him compulsory retirement after suspending him over three graft charges.

Similarly, OAS Officer and former Jagatsinghpur Deputy Collector Gourang Charan Mohanty has been given forced retirement for corruption. He is accused of embezzling Government funds.

Other officials who were given compulsory retirement included OAS Officer Alphonse Bilung, former Superintending Engineer (irrigation) Bidhan Chandra Sahoo, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme CDPO Meena Patra, ICDS scheme CDPO Puspanajali Rath, former Deputy Excise Superintendent Ajit Kumar Mohapatra and Tihidi Block Cashier Prabhakar Pradhan.

With this, total 130 officials have been given compulsory retirement in Odisha so far over graft and dereliction of duty.
