Angul: A woman died, and her husband sustained critical injuries after the couple was reportedly attacked by a wild elephant at the Bantala forest range in Angul district of Odisha.

The victim has been admitted to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in critical condition for treatment.

According to reports, Chhabil Biswal and his wife Sulochana Biswal of Talagarh village under Angul Block in the district, went to their farmland for work today morning. A tusker, which was already present there, attacked the couple at the Brinjal field, brutally killing the woman. Her husband was seriously injured in the attack.

The villagers rescued the victim in a critical condition and took him to the DHH for treatment.

Till the last report came in, neither any official from the Forest Department nor police had reached the spot.
