Couple dies by suicide in Odisha’s Balasore; bodies found charged with electricity

Balasore: In a shocking incident, a couple reportedly died by suicide at Parvatipur village under Simulia police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district, last night.

The deceased were identified as Manoj Mahakud (32) and his wife Sasmita Mahakud (28).

As per reports, Sasmita’s sister and brother-in-law arrived at the couple’s house and knocked on the door. When there was no response, they suspected foul play and broke open the door with the help of other family members.

They found the couple hanging by electric wires. Upon touching, they realized that the bodies were still charged with electricity. It is suspected that the couple took their lives by electrocution.

Simulia police have initiated an investigation into the incident. A pall of gloom descended on the village after the death of the duo.
