Couple sent to jail for abetting son’s lover to commit suicide in Odisha

An elderly couple has been sent to jail in Debagarh district after their bail plea was rejected by a local court here yesterday. They were arrested by Odisha police on charges of abetting the alleged lover of their son, who is at large, to commit suicide.

According to reports, an estranged woman of Kelda village under Barkote police limits in the district, identified as Sebati Kisan (26), had hung herself to death in her lover’s house on January 3 after failing to marry him.

Barkote police started a probe into the suicide filling a case of unnatural death on February 11 against her alleged lover, identified as Suresh Kisan of Salohi village, and his family members.

Kisan, who is said to be a relative brother of the deceased, is employed in CISF, now serving in Chhattisgarh.

Police found the trio guilty in its probe and arrested Indramani Kisan (53) and SUshila Kisan (50), the parents of Suresh yesterday.

They were forwarded to a local court after arrest and later were sent to jail after the bail plea got rejected.

Suresh is yet to be arrested.

Sebati had married to Janak Kisan of Siarmalia village three years ago.

However, Sebati came back to her father’s around after six months of marriage following marital disturbance.

Estranged Sebati and Suresh fell in love and Suresh promised to marry her.

When the deceased asked for marriage, Suresh assured her to marry once she got a legal divorce from her husband.

Sebati was unsure and forcing him to get married soon which was denied by Suresh, following which she was disturbed and committed suicide in a room of Suresh’s house.
