COVID-19: 6-day shutdown announced in this Odisha town

Berhampur: Ganjam district administration today announced shutdown in Chhatrapur NAC for six days in a bid to contain spread of COVID-19.

The shutdown which will come into effect on June 30 (tomorrow) will remain in force till July 5.

The Collector decided to impose the shutdown after many positive cases were reported from the area.  Yesterday,  COVID warrior Chhatrapur block chairman tested positive for the deadly virus.  During the shutdown,  all shops and business establishments except medicine stores will remain closed in the NAC.

Besides, the administration also declared a 7-day shutdown in Kabisuryanagar area starting tomorrow (June 30) to contain spread of the virus.

Earlier in the day,  the district reported highest 96 positive cases and one  COVID-19 death. The total number of positive cases in the district now stands at 1367, including 463 active cases.  However, 892  patients have recovered in the district while total 12 succumbed to the virus.
