COVID-19 at its peak in Khordha, on decline in Ganjam: RMRC

Bhubaneswar: With continuous spike in COVID-19 cases in Odisha, it appears that Khordha district is at peak of the deadly virus infection, informed ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar, Director Dr Sanghamitra Pati today.

“As the number of testing has increased in the State, the positivity rate has declined, which is a good sign for Odisha. As per test results, Khordha district is at the peak stage and the coronavirus infections may reach its peak in other districts in upcoming days,” Dr Pati told media.

However, the infection has dropped in COVID hotspot Ganjam district.

“The report on serological surveillance conducted in Ganjam district has been submitted to the State Government. The report suggests that the infection is under control in the district,” she said.

She claimed that Ganjam, which has registered the highest number of 13,575 COVID-19 cases so far, reports no new case.

The positive cases are only detected from the contact tracing, she added.
