COVID-19: BMC to conduct surveillance in slums in Odisha Capital tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: In order to protect people of the Capital city and provide service like early diagnosis and prompt treatment for any COVID-19 related symptoms, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has prepared the road map of household surveillance in all slums of Bhubaneswar in continuation with its ongoing surveillance.

The survey will be started from tomorrow where it will cover all the household under each Anganwadi.

As per the order it will be based on houses coming under preview of Anganwadis.
ICDS in Bhubaneswar is having three CDPOs controlling about 370 Anganwadi centres.

In each survey team there will be one Anganwadi worker, ASHA and MAS (Manhila Arogya Samiti) member.

The team will cover households in detail with the formats and deposit the same to CDPO which ultimately will be compiled at ADUPHO (Additional District Urban Public Health Officer ) level heading city health programme of NHM in BMC area.

The team members will visit three times to their concerned area for covering each family and to report for prompt treatment of cases having symptoms like soar throat, cough, cold and fever. Also they will report about any travel history available in the families covered by them.

There are about 370 Anganwadi centres functioning in the city.

As this is a field level direct surveillance the survey team will have personal protection like hand gloves, mask, sanitizer and pass for field activities.

A total no of about 1000 personnel comprising AWW, ASHHA and MAS members will be participating in the surveillance. The orientation of health workers and CDPOs has already been done with guidance of ADUPHO, CHO and CDPO, said DC Sanitation Suvendu Kumar Sahoo.
