Covid-19: Cuttack ITI develops Walk-In Kiosk for sample collection

Cuttack: A team comprising of skilled technicians of Government Industrial Training Insitute (ITI) here has developed a walk-in kiosk to collect samples for testing patients showing symptoms of deadly novel coronavirus.

The kiosk is a mobile cubicle with a sealed glass cabin which comes with a pair of gloves attached to it in the front through which the doctor or health worker can collect samples of the suspected patient. The structure is supported with four wheels at the base for mobility.

The swab collections can be done without direct sun exposure and contact. After the samples are collected, the gloves will be santisied from outside. The kiosk will be able to conduct more tests in less time.

Inspired by the model adopted by South Korea to collect the sample of Covid-19 patients in order to tackle the shortage of PPEs, the team has developed a walk-in-kiosk for this purpose and have been praised in various regions.

The kiosk can be easily set up in any region and will help faster sample collections in the areas where the transmission is suspected.
