COVID-19: Doctors’ advice now over call/WhatsApp in Odisha

Berhampur : People in Ganjam district will no more have to rush to hospital to avail healthcare services. They can get it sitting at their homes.

In an unique initiative to ensure social distancing for COVID-19, the Ganjam administration has launched telemedicine  services for people seeking medical consultation in the district. The administration has released contact details of a number doctors and specialists of various genres, who will provide consultation over phone calls and WhatsApp.

The doctors will be available during both morning and evening time.

 

“The administration has taken the initiative to fight against Coronavirus. Please do not visit hospitals, unless you have symptoms of COVID-19 or any other critical health issues. Consult our panel of volunteer doctors over call and WhatsApp,” said a district official.

Speaking to Sambad English Cosmetologist P Samina said, “ This is a good initiative taken up by Ganjam DRDA. It will help restrict the crowd at OPDs and ensure social distancing, thereby tackling the spread of the highly-infectious virus.  As a doctor, I feel privileged for being able to help people in this time of crisis. And I would request people to stay at home and support the state Government in fighting the deadly coronavirus.”
